An Open Letter from the Chairman of the Fort Worth Scottish Rite
I wanted to take this opportunity to share some important and exciting news with you regarding the Ancient and Accepted Fort Worth Scottish Rite, Valley of Texas.
As many know, our Fort Worth Valley has and continues to work hand in hand with our Blue Lodge Masonic Lodges throughout our jurisdiction to provide study and educational opportunities supporting Blue Lodge Masonry.
As Scottish Rite Masons, we are all first and foremost, Texas Master Masons, working diligently in our individual Lodges and with our Fort Worth Scottish Rite Valley. We strongly believe and declare; there is no higher degree than that of a Master Mason and there is no honor that can be bestowed that has greater significance than the sublime degree of Master Mason.
Our Fort Worth Valley has been diligently working with and preparing a group of Master Masons, who are Scottish Rite Masons, who have dedicated themselves to provide a highly diverse and educated body of Masonic educational leaders, teachers, and educational facilitators. They have set specific goals for reaching and supporting our Blue Lodge Masons and have developed study and educational lesson plans to strengthen and support our Brothers in Blue Lodge Masonry as well as our Scottish Rite Masons.
We, as Texas Masons are blessed, in that many of our Blue Lodges have strong educational opportunities in their lodges and regularly offer Masonic training beyond the degree ritual lectures following the degrees.
But, in our current culture and the losses experienced by many or most fraternal organizations, including our Blue Lodges, many lodges are unable to offer any study or educational opportunities to our new Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft and Master Masons. This is a crucial issue facing more and more of our Blue Lodges.
Here is what the Fort Worth Valley has been working diligently to provide and what we hope will be well received by our Blue Lodges thorough-out our Valley jurisdiction:
The Fort Worth Scottish Rite Valley has “called” 12 or more, dedicated Scottish Rite Masons who are deeply involved in their own Masonic Lodges and have a strong desire to educate, as well as many years of Blue Lodge governance experience, ritual knowledge, ancient esoteric and exoteric knowledge and facilitator experience, to “bring” the study and educational opportunities to our Blue Lodges.
Most Masonic Lodges are aware of the great work our Scottish Rite Master Mason Degree Team provides when supporting a Lodge having a Master Mason Degree. But, there is more, as many of our Masonic Lodges have found, that strongly supports our lodges, and is very well received.
Within the Fort Worth Scottish Rite Valley, we have a strong Educational Committee that meets monthly reviewing Masonic educational needs, reviewing and proofing training and educational materials, preparing training syllabus based on developing needs, and developing presentation materials to be used in Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley educational presentations.
That same committee provides the professional leadership, speakers and facilitators supporting the study and educational programs presented to our Masonic Lodges and our Scottish Rite study seminars.
- The Fort Worth Scottish Rite Valley currently has several Masonic Study opportunities that are held at the Masonic Temple in Fort Worth, as well as in Wichita Falls, Gainesville and Stephenville, Texas. All of which are open to all Masons, as they are not ritual specific and they bring information of interest to all Masons.
- The Fort Worth Scottish Rite Valley periodically presents the terminal degrees of the Scottish Rite Lodge of Perfection to various Lodges such as Gainesville, Stephenville and Wichita Falls. On September 23, 2017, those terminal degrees were conferred to Master Masons in Graham, Texas, that are petitioning for the Scottish Rite Degrees, during Reunion on October 21st, 28th and November 4, 2017.
- Additionally, the Fort Worth Scottish Valley has a Speakers Bureau that often receives requests from Masonic Lodges having a need or a desire to study, educate and or just have a facilitated study opportunity in their lodges for a specific topic, of their choosing. Our Speakers Bureau needs only a short time to prepare for new or special subjects prior to coming to your lodge equipped and prepared to facilitate the study group.
We are all Texas Masons dedicated to the Fraternity. Help us help others, as we have diligently prepared to do. I want to thank you for taking the time to review this open letter and the services we offer to our Masonic Lodges. We sincerely pledge our very best efforts to support your needs and hope to hear from you.
In closing, it is important to reiterate; our Education Committee pledges it very best efforts to support any or all requests from our Masonic Lodges and our Scottish Rite Brothers in Blue Lodge Masonry. We only ask to support your special needs and to provide those study and educational needs that are not currently being met because of unforeseen limitations.
There may be many questions regarding our efforts and what we may be able to do for our lodges. If there are questions, please contact:
